Skiing for beginners doesn’t have to be daunting. Chill Factore’s beginner ski lessons will build your confidence on the slopes in no time. You will be guided by one of our professional ski instructors every step of the way, from the moment you put on a pair of skis for the first time to when you complete your first exciting run of the Beginner Slope.

We understand the challenges of skiing for beginners, and our beginner ski lessons allow you to learn at your own pace. You will receive expert tuition and support whilst we aim to develop every aspect of your skiing technique, from bending your knees correctly to learning how to use the drag lift. Furthermore, at the Chill Factore Ski School, we structure our lessons based on your ability level so you’re always paired with people at the same stage when you sign up for group ski lessons. We also offer private ski lessons for beginners if you would prefer one-to-one tuition with one of our instructors.

Chill Factore is home to the largest indoor ski slope in the UK – at 180 metres – and brings skiing to life through the use of real snow. 2 Hour Level One Lesson

Our 2-hour level 1 Ski Group Lessons will introduce guests new to skiing to the essential equipment and slope etiquette. We’ll then move on to moving around on the flat on your skis, then moving on to learning to side step and straight run on your skis. You’ll develop your balance and posture and be introduced to the snowplough.

The 2-hour lesson includes a complimentary drink in The Lodge Bar & Kitchen with your instructor whilst you get your lesson feedback.

5 Hour Adult Beginner Ski Day (5 Hours of tuition on and off the snow, with an hour break)

The Ski Beginner Days start at Level 1 and will guide you through 5 hours of instruction, giving you the perfect foundations to continue to develop your newfound skills. Chill Factore’s one-day learn to ski lessons are group sessions with a maximum of ten participants.

2 Hour Level Two Lesson

Our 2-hour level 2 Ski Group Lessons will help you develop your snowplough skills and become more versatile with the shape of the snowplough. You will then be introduced to changing direction/steering using the snowplough and introduced to the beginner slope lift.

Level 3: I have started steering/turning using snowplough

2 Hour Level Three Lesson

Our 2 hour level 3 Ski Group Lessons will help you start to link your snowplough turns. You’ll be guided on how to vary the radius of your turns to encourage the control of your speed. You will be introduced to controlling your speed and direction from the top of the Beginner Slope and stopping using snowplough turns.

The 2-hour lesson includes a complimentary drink in The Lodge Bar & Kitchen with your instructor whilst you get your lesson feedback.

Level 4: I am in control of my speed and direction and can confidently snowplough turn

2 Hour Level Four Lesson

Our 2-hour level 4 Ski Group Lesson introduces you to the main slope lift and working towards confidently skiing on the lower half of the main slope. You will also work on adjusting for varying terrain. Starting to match your skis towards the end of the turn (Parallel)

The 2-hour lesson includes a complimentary drink in The Lodge Bar & Kitchen with your instructor whilst you get your lesson feedback.

5-Hour Adult Ski Improver Day (5 Hours of tuition on and off the snow, with an hour break)

Our 5 Hour Ski Improver Day Lessons are aimed at skiers who have completed the Beginner’s day course/Level 3 and can make turns from the top of the beginner slope, potentially lower main slope. The course will start on the Beginners slope then progress to main slope with the goal of developing confidence skiing / riding on the main slope. Focus will be on developing stronger steering skills to unlock steeper terrain and develop confidence.

Guests will start by consolidating snow-plough turning on the beginner slope then go on to the lower part of the main slope and learn the foundations of parallel skiing. This will be done helping skiers to learn how to match their skis through the middle-to-end of their turns and introducing them to skiing from the top of the main slope.

N.B. To get the most out of your visit, we recommend the 5 Hour Ski Day Lessons for those who regularly participate in other sports activities.

Things you need to know:

  • We have changing cubicles available & Lockers are available to store your belongings, which take a £1 coin or a locker token. These are returnable.
  • We offer accessible changing facilities for those who require them.
  • Aim to arrive 45 minutes to an hour before the start time of your lesson, to give ample time to get prepared.
  • Price of your lesson still includes boots, skis, poles, or a snowboard and a helmet
  • Gloves are compulsory - you can bring your own or purchase a pair on-site.
  • Helmets are mandatory - you can bring your own if you have one, or you can rent a borrow when you get here at no extra charge. You can also purchase a helmet on site.
  • Age restrictions still apply.
  • Please note, we are only taking card payments at this time and no cash will be able to be accepted.
  • On arrival please have your booking reference to hand (you can find this on your booking confirmation email). You can collect your tickets from the Guest Services desk, or from the Self-Service ticket machines situated near Reception. If your booking confirmation has a QR code, you can scan this at the self-service machines to check-in.

What clothing and equipment will I need?

The price of your booking includes ski boots, skis and a helmet. Gloves are mandatory or can be purchased online or at the centre. Check out the Clothing & Equipment page here.

Can I book beginner ski lessons for a child?

Skiing for beginners doesn’t just apply to adults. If you’re keen to get your youngster into the sport, check out our Kids’ Ski School page to book lessons created for young learners of all abilities aged 4 to 16. We also offer Kids’ Private Ski Lessons for children aged 3 years and upwards.

I'm a beginner, how long does it take to learn to ski?

With the help of our expert team you’ll master skiing in no time. We have different levels to work your way up, so you can learn the very basics, and then build your skiing strengths. So it doesn’t matter if you’ve never skied before, or if you know a few basics, we have the ideal lesson for you.

As a beginner, can you go skiing without lessons?

We wouldn’t advise that you ski without lessons, that’s why we always suggest you take some beginner lessons first so you can get to grips with the slopes. To avoid injury or simply having a bad skiing experience, you should take our beginner lessons so our expert trainers can help you learn the basics.

How much is a beginner ski lesson?

What equipment do I need? Are shorter skis better for beginners?
